Welcome to Deegco Productions, the one stop shop for all of your audio and video production needs. Located in the heart of the NoDa arts district in Charlotte NC, our studio is perfectly positioned to ensure that there is never a moment without inspiration. Operating hand in hand with our full service recording studio and HD videography departments is our music production training program, where students have the opportunity to receive training in a number of different fields of study, all right in the middle of a functioning production company.

You never know what or who you'll find if roam our halls. Our production labs are filled with all sorts of synths, turntables and drum machines, along with some great recording gear that students and producers alike love to take advantage of. Now syncronize that with a comprehensive collection of production software and plug-ins for the maximum amount of horsepower under the hood. Every production suite has a different color scheme, providing unique production environments as well as a number of options when shooting video.
The "Orange Room " acts as both our main classroom as well as one of our primary video production suites. When in classroom mode, the teachers iMac station is projected onto the wall for students to follow along with, providing a perfect environment for hands on learning. We can also tear down the room and use the adjacent production suite to learn recording procedures like drum mic placement and studio routing. The giant windows in this room provide beautiful natural light for our video production, or we can shut them up and use our own light for a controlled environment, perfect for the green screen that lives here.

In addition to recording and filming bands here at the studio, we record audio and shoot video at many of the music venues here in Charlotte, and students are involved with every step along the way. From the pre-production planning, to operating the steadicam in the middle of the stage, to editing a full on music video, students cut their teeth in the industry and start earning their chops, all while creating the key to getting an industry job, their demo reel. With most producers demo reel containing items that they had only a single part in creating, our students have the advantage with the opportunity to film, edit, mix, score and create sound design all within a single clip, giving their demo reel the most impact, and that's what matters.

My band 3Remain found out about this awesome new studio right in the heart of NODA through a contact of mine (Rod Huneycutt).  When i walked into the studio the first time i was shocked with what we would be working with! I was so pumped to be able to work with DJ! he worked with me and my band until the early hours of the morning multiple days! DJ's  knowledge of Pro Tools is very skilled and not to mention the room you record in has an amazing sound. 3Remain recorded 2 songs with DJ "Invincible" and "Reach" and we had a blast and would highly recommend DJ to anyone! Hey DJ... EMERGEN-C!!!  lol had a blast man!

As a musician, you’re always hoping that all those hours of practice will collide with a tremendous opportunity; collectively called luck. Working with Deegco was not only luck but also exactly what a project like Action Street needed.

In the studio setting, you want an engineer who can share your vision, faith and be a good enough friend to tell you when something’s not good enough. We found all three in DJ Rankin. More surprising is that he is one of the most generous and humble men I’ve met; a master of his craft without shoving it in your face or inflating your ego.

No matter the musical direction Action Street will go, I would work with Deegco again because of the elements they bring to our music.

Working in the studio with DJ is always an enjoyable experience. Running sessions diplomatically and in a timely manner, so much can be accomplished in a few hours of work. I was completely satisfied with the quality of my album and the studio environment.

Books are fine when learning, but having a person there to answer all your questions is even better! As a musician who has wanted to get into home recording and learning ProTools, I could not find a teacher in the Charlotte, NC area.... until I found DJ Rankin. As a teacher he is knowledgeable, personable, patient and affordable -- which is exactly what you need when taking lessons. DJ caters lessons to the aspects of recording that I am interested in learning and explains information so the "average guy" can understand it, not in "technical speak". If you've been looking for someone to help you learn the in's and out's of recording DJ is the guy to call.
